Frequently Asked Questions
Is online therapy as effective as in-person counselling?
For many concerns, yes. Research has shown that virtual therapy can be just as effective as in-person counselling for issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, grief, relationship challenges, and many other mental health concerns. What matters most is having a strong therapeutic relationship and a safe, confidential space to talk.
Who can access online therapy?
We provide secure virtual counselling for clients located anywhere in Ontario. Whether you live in a rural community, have a busy schedule, travel frequently, or simply prefer meeting from the comfort of your own home, online therapy offers a convenient way to access professional support.
What do I need for a virtual appointment?
All you need is a reliable internet connection, a computer, tablet, or smartphone with a camera and microphone, and a private space where you feel comfortable talking. We’ll provide everything else you need to join your secure online session.
Is online therapy confidential?
Yes. We use a secure, privacy-compliant video platform designed for healthcare services. Your privacy and confidentiality remain a priority whether you’re meeting in person or online.
What concerns can be addressed through online therapy?
Virtual counselling can support many of the same concerns as in-person therapy, including:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Stress and burnout
- Grief and loss
- Trauma
- Relationship concerns
- Self-esteem
- Life transitions
- Faith-related concerns
If you’re unsure whether online therapy is right for your situation, we’d be happy to discuss your options.
Can couples attend virtual therapy together?
Yes. Many couples successfully participate in virtual counselling together. Whether you’re joining from the same location or separate locations within Ontario, your therapist will work with you to create a supportive and productive experience.
What if I’ve never done online therapy before?
That’s completely okay. Many of our clients are new to virtual counselling. Your therapist will guide you through the process, making it as comfortable and straightforward as possible. Most people find they adjust to the online format very quickly.
Can I switch between virtual and in-person appointments?
In many cases, yes. Depending on your therapist’s availability and your needs, you may be able to alternate between virtual and in-person sessions. We’ll work with you to find an arrangement that best supports your goals.
Will my insurance cover online therapy?
Many extended health benefit plans cover virtual psychotherapy in the same way they cover in-person sessions. Because every plan is different, we recommend checking with your insurance provider regarding your specific coverage.
